The NEW Energy Efficient Tree of Light
December 2009

SANTA BARBARA - Local 413 members decorate the 100' tall "Tree of Light" at the corner of Chapala and Carrillo streets in Santa Barbara. This latest effort marks the 85th consecutive holiday season that the members of the IBEW have lit the community Christmas tree. In August of 2009, the members of IBEW Local 413 donated an entirely new energy efficient lighting system for the City's tree. The previous light design was replaced this season with over 3,300 eco-friendly LED lights. This new system will consume less than 200 watts and will cost about $0.29 per night to operate. That's 99% more energy efficient than the previous incandescent display!

Another HUGE Success at the Turkey Drive!
November 2009

SANTA MARIA - People turned out in droves donating money and and food to the Turkey Drive. Donations were huge, totaling 1179 turkeys and over $23,031.21 in monetary donations. We had multiple collection points throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties helping make this the most successful turkey drive ever. The food bank wants to remind you that for every dollar donated, they are going to be able to purchase $7.00 in food to stock the shelves of the food bank. As a result of the generosity of our community, the Foodbanks of SLO and SB Counties will be able to buy over $100,000 worth of food.

IBEW/NECA volunteers help out at the Boys & Girls Club of Carpinteria
May 2009

Thank you to #413 members Jon Paola and Tim Gallant, Sage Electric owner Louis Angelos, and CES manager Dan Byers for stepping up when called upon to help the local Boys & Girls Club of Carpinteria. The club needed some additional receptacle circuits added to safely support their stage set-up for local fund raising events and youth dances. Our brothers and friends volunteered to put it all together for the club, in exchange for our LMCC banner to hang in the gym as a proud supporter of the youth of Carpinteria. Another IBEW/NECA community service project well done. Great job everybody!

KCOY Turkey Drive a HUGE Success!
November 2008

Santa Maria - The KCOY Turkey Drive presented by IBEW/NECA is being called a huge success. People started lining up in front of the KCOY Studios starting at 5am. The flow of traffic was heavy at times with cars backing up into the street. Central Coast residents donated 1058 turkeys and more than $19,200 dollars. By comparison, last year 840 turkeys were donated. The money and food will help feed folks needing a hand this holiday season.

August 2005

When Pioneer Valley High School hosts its first-ever football game in less than three weeks, fans will be following the matchup on a free state-of-the-art scoreboard. IBEW 413 and Central Coast NECA donated the equipment and labor after hearing the school couldn't cover the costs. Organizers said it was no problem finding the manpower to complete the donation and actually ended up with more volunteers than they needed Saturday.
